We first met Hanan and Said on the day of their engagement shoot and couldn't help but fall in love with this bubbly, romantic couple. With mild February weather (right before the storm!), they walked through the busy streets, hand-in-hand and smiles all around. We could not put down our camera for a single second during this shoot! Whenever we tried, these two would hug so closely, laugh with one another and just be so in love as if we were not there clicking away.
Months ago, Ali and I contributed towards a humanitarian fundraiser to help support displaced Iraqis currently living in inadequate conditions as a result of war. This initiative hits close to the heart after having recently seen, first hand, some of the difficult living conditions in the country. The magnitude of the situation makes us feel so helpless, so while tiny, we decided to use our talents for something bigger than ourselves. We raffled off a photoshoot at a fundraiser back in February. We were so happy to hear from Isabelle and Arman after they won a photo session with us!
As they say, love conquers all and knows no distance. Or as Raehil put it "because 580 miles apart got nothing on us". Raehil and her family flew in from Washington state, USA to good old Ottawa, Canada to celebrate the union of one of the most vibrant brides I've ever seen in an intimate and private setting in Rayyan's family home with close friends and family.
Emotions were running high in the library where the bride’s entourage glammed up and prepared for her grande entrance. As she pinned her intricately embroidered veil over her head and slipped on her diamond strapped golden shoes, not a single girl in the room could keep a dry eye. Embracing her best friend, they shared a silent prayer to ease the bridal jitters. Having become used to meticulous punctuality as a doctor-to-be, Waed anxiously glanced at the clock that struck delayed in her mind.
Sometimes timing can be so off. Other times, just so absolutely perfect. Angad and Katherine’s circles intertwined through mutual friends a few years back. As their friendship evolved over the years, Angad realized that his respect and appreciation for her came from somewhere deep in his heart. But the timing wasn’t right. A political scientist by training, Katherine's adventures took her into a completely different direction around the world. Angad continued to pursue his business studies in Ottawa, waiting patiently until the stars finally aligned.
